- My son Steven and I pulled the engine 3 days after the race to find out what was causing the header glow. We played with the timing and jetting out at the track, but still had header glow. So I talked with Craig(engine specialist) about it and decided to undergo engine dyno-time. We discovered a few things during the engine dyno. The most significant was that we were under-horsepowered. Upon discovering this I was first bummed, then realized we ran decent lap times and were competitive all the while under-horsepowered. We will get the engine problem figured out and regain our lost horsepower.

- We raced our Superlate Model on July 5th for the 100 lapper. The 2008 car setup Kathy and I put under the car was good right off the bat. We were able to run consistent smooth lap times, although we were battling some header glow issues. We ran about 48 laps in the main event until I was blacked flagged for a fire under the hood. It turned out to be rubber from a oil breather melting. The high temperature under the hood from the Headers still glowing also caused some fluids to boil. Needless to say I was a little disappointed with our results with our 2008 debut.

- June 14th The JTR Team brought the 96 Modified out after two years to run The Lucas Oil Super Clean 75 Lap at Tucson Raceway Park. We mounted used tires onto the Modified to run all day. The mod started really loose in the heat of the day, after a few adjustments we were hot lapping again and running with the eventual trophy dash winner. We tightened the mod for qualifying and we paid the price with a poor qualifying time. We started the Main Event 17th. When the green flag flew turn four had a bunch up of cars, so Jerry checked up and was practically at a stop, unfortunately there wasn't a yellow flag and we started a half a track or more behind. With used tires this wasn't the position we wanted to start the race in. We soldiered on throughout the race and with the temperature cooling down the Mod was getting extremely tight in the middle and exit of the turns. Around Lap 42/43 going into turn 1 Modified #12 failed to turn and ran straight into Jerry sending him into the wall hard. We were done for the night with broke upper and lower balljoints which caused us to lose right front wheel & tire,spindle, hub, rotor, and caliper. We will be back July 5th with our Super Late Model. We will post pictures of the 96 Modified soon.

- Thanks to the crew on June 14th for help getting the Modified through Technical Inspection and race ready;
Ricky Liefer, Joel Johnson, Erik Bright, Michael Hill,
Duane Hunt Sr. and Duane Hunt Jr.

** SPECIAL THANKS **

Mom and Dad thanks for coming out for the kids graduations and for our scheduled race. I'm only sorry the JTR Team and I couldn't showcase our hardwork during your visit with the race. Dad you keep fighting that cancer and we'll get Mom and you out here for a race. We love and miss you both!

- The May 24th race was cancelled. The JTR Team had planned for alot of family, friends, and advertisers to attend the race. Without a race, the team quickly coordinated to display the 96 Super Late Model at Little Anthony's Car Show. This would give the JTR Team a chance share the new look of the 96 Super Late Model with everyone who was scheduled to attend the race. The car show brought in over 50 cars and over 500 hundred spectactors. We had alot of interest in our car and a number of people commenting on how good the car looked. Everyone that attended had a good time and the JTR Team would like to thank Little Anthony's for allowing us to participate. We would also like to give a special thanks to all the people that made it possible for us to put the car on diplay. Craig Hoffsmith of HPE Engines went beyond the call of duty to ensure we had our engine. HPE Exhaustworks allowed Jerry to spend time with his visiting Mom and Dad from New York by stepping in and installing the engine to have the car ready to race. Doug Paxson of Pro Vinyl Graphics for taking the extra time to work with Jerry to get the graphics just right for the 96 Team and advertisers. Ned Champine of Champ Performance & Fabrication for getting the suspension parts in time to get the front suspension just right before the race/display. Ken Acker of Tierra Antigua Realty for ensuring that the 96 Team was going to start the season off on fresh rubber with new tires. Kathy Thitchener (my wife) and Patti Liefer (my cousin) for getting t-shirts for the entire JTR Team to showcase our new image for 2008.
